Anna Kendrick Reflects on Her Forgotten Role in Twilight

Anna Kendrick recently revealed on the Call Her Daddy podcast that she's sometimes forgotten her role in the Twilight movies. While this might seem surprising, Kendrick explained that her experience filming the series felt somewhat removed from the intense fandom that took over. “I had done a silly, funny tweet where I just said, ‘Holy shit. I just remembered I was in Twilight,’” she shared, admitting that her memory of being part of the franchise is complicated. "Obviously, I didn’t forget the experience of making the movies," she clarified, "but those films took on a life of their own.”

Kendrick, who played the human character Jessica Stanley across four films, described her role as more of a side part in the Twilight storm. While main stars like Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson were thrust into massive popularity, Kendrick said her character wasn’t one fans obsessed over. “It almost feels like I didn’t really have to run the gauntlet,” she admitted, adding that while her costars faced intense fan scrutiny, she just had to show up, deliver some funny lines, and move on.

The actress also recalled the cold, difficult filming conditions on set. In 2020, she even joked about the miserable, freezing days in the Pacific Northwest, where she often had to endure soaked shoes and freezing weather. "I just remember my Converse being completely soaked through and feeling like, ‘I want to murder everyone,’” she laughed.

Now, Kendrick is branching out from acting. She’s stepping into the director’s chair with her debut film, Woman of the Hour, a true-crime story about serial killer Rodney Alcala, who once appeared on The Dating Game.
