In a chat with People magazine, Garfield likened working with Gosling to acting alongside legendary stars like Marlon Brando or James Dean. "It was like working with a live, wild animal—spontaneous, inventive, and real," Garfield recalled. "You never knew what he'd do next, but it was always alive and truthful. I remember thinking, 'I want to do that.'"
Despite their parallel success over the last two decades, the two actors have yet to appear together on the big screen. However, Garfield remains hopeful. When asked what kind of movie he’d like to star in with Gosling, the Hacksaw Ridge actor didn’t hesitate: “Anything, really.” He even expressed a desire to dance with Gosling, praising the Barbie star as an “incredible performer” and someone he’d love to collaborate with.
Garfield also shared his admiration for Gosling’s body of work, singling out The Nice Guys as his favorite. “What Ryan brought to that comedic role was inspiring,” he said, adding that he’d love to tackle a similar project with him.

The film, which also features Marma Corlett, Nikhil Parmar, and Aoife Hinds, explores weighty themes like cancer, a subject close to Garfield’s heart. The actor revealed that the script resonated with him, as his mother passed away after a battle with cancer.
“The story wasn’t exactly my experience, but thematically, it felt like something I was processing in my own life,” Garfield shared, offering a glimpse into the personal connection he felt with the project.
