In a recent interview with Esquire, Garfield opened up about how much the experience meant to him. Reflecting on his first time being cast as Spider-Man over a decade ago, he remembers excitedly calling his parents at 3 a.m. to share the news, joking that he didn’t need business studies anymore.
Garfield’s time as Spider-Man had highs and lows. He starred in The Amazing Spider-Man alongside Emma Stone, and the two became a popular Hollywood couple. But after plans for The Amazing Spider-Man 3 were canceled due to mixed reviews, despite strong box office performance, Garfield's stint as Spider-Man came to an abrupt end.
Years later, Spider-Man: No Way Home proved that fans still appreciated his version of Peter Parker, with the film earning nearly $2 billion globally. Garfield is open to returning to the role under the right circumstances, saying he’d love to reprise the character if it felt fresh and exciting.
“If part of what I bring is joy, then I’m joyful in return,” Garfield shared, expressing his love for the character and the joy it brings both him and fans.
