Shailene Woodley has discovered a new talent while preparing for her role as Janis Joplin in an upcoming biopic. The actress, known for her work in Big Little Lies and Divergent, recently joked about finding out she can sing outside of the shower. In a conversation with Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos on their podcast Live with Kelly and Mark, Woodley shared her journey of transforming into the iconic singer.

Woodley revealed that the project has been six years in the making, and she’s been committed to bringing Joplin’s spirit and light to life with care and respect. She described her admiration for Joplin, stating, “Janis is someone I've always deeply respected and admired.” The actress also spoke about the intense preparation she has undergone, noting that the experience has helped her connect with Joplin on a deeper level.

In addition to discovering her singing abilities, Woodley will star alongside musician and producer Linda Perry. Perry has been instrumental in guiding Woodley through the musical aspects of the role. Woodley credited Perry for helping her find her own voice, saying, “I’m not like a trained singer, but it turns out I can sing outside of the shower.”
