Scout also discussed her personal experience growing up with her famous parents, Demi Moore and Bruce Willis. She described her childhood as living in a "fishbowl," constantly surrounded by cameras, especially during the awkward phases of life. This upbringing, she said, made her appreciate the lessons her mother instilled about feeling "beautiful, sexy, and embodied" from within.
At the Los Angeles premiere of The Substance, Scout shared her thoughts on the film. She highlighted how the movie addresses the concept of outer beauty, calling it "amazing" for its satirical take on beauty standards. Demi Moore stars as Elisabeth Sparkle, a 50-year-old actress-turned-aerobics instructor who is fired from a TV network for being considered too old. In a bid to regain her youth, her character enrolls in a sci-fi body-enhancement program to create a younger version of herself, played by Margaret Qualley.
Moore hopes the film will inspire viewers to be more compassionate and gentle toward themselves. She expressed her desire for both men and women to walk away from the film with a greater sense of kindness toward their own self-image.
The Substance is set to hit theaters on September 20, 2024.
