Dolly Parton and Miley Cyrus Discover Their Family Connection

Dolly Parton and Miley Cyrus Discover Their Family Connection

Dolly Parton and Miley Cyrus have discovered that their relationship goes beyond that of godmother and goddaughter. During a recent segment on Access Hollywood, Parton learned from Ancestry that she and Cyrus are actually seventh cousins, once removed, linked through John Brickey of Virginia. Parton’s sixth great-grandfather is also Cyrus' seventh great-grandfather.

“That’s amazing! I’m sure she’ll get a kick out of that,” Parton said. “It doesn’t surprise me because she does feel like family.”

Brickey, born in 1740 in Virginia, moved to Blount County, Tennessee, with his family, where he lived until his death in 1806. Both artists have strong ties to Tennessee.

Parton, a longtime friend of Cyrus’ father, Billy Ray Cyrus, became Miley’s godmother shortly after her birth. "I’ve known her since she was a baby," Parton recalled in 2009. "When she was born, [her father] said, ‘You just have to be her godmother,’ and I accepted. I’m so proud of her, love her. She’s just like one of my own.”

The two have collaborated several times, with Parton making guest appearances on Cyrus’ Disney Channel show, Hannah Montana, and contributing to Cyrus’ song “Rainbowland” from her 2017 album, Younger Now. They often cover each other’s hits, including Cyrus’ rendition of “Jolene” and Parton’s take on “Wrecking Ball.”

Cyrus described Parton as “like a mother” to her in a recent interview with W Magazine. She shared a touching note Parton sent her, expressing her love, and mentioned a unique Christmas gift: “Last Christmas, she gave me a whole mannequin, done in her proportions and wearing her outfit. It’s so major.”

Garten expressed her admiration for Swift, saying, "I'm crazy about Taylor Swift." After a concert, Swift invited Garten and her friends to a party for the crew. Her friend Kate suggested they play beer pong, which led to an amusing experience. As they headed to the game, soccer legend Abby Wambach approached Garten and offered her advice. Wambach had just led the U.S. women's national soccer team to victory in the 2015 World Cup, and she had previously joined Swift on stage during the concert in New Jersey. Garten admitted she was not skilled at beer pong, and this was her first and only game. Wambach humorously told her, "Get the f—ing ball in the f—ing cup!"

Jimmy Fallon Faces Challenges as NBC Cuts The Tonight Show to Four Nights a Week

Jimmy Fallon is facing tough times as NBC has cut his show, The Tonight Show, from five nights a week to four. This decision has left him feeling anxious about the future of his program. Despite his contract running until 2028, insiders say his confidence is dwindling. Since 2019, The Tonight Show has seen a 41% drop in viewership, consistently ranking behind Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel. Experts attribute this decline to the growing popularity of streaming services. With the new filming schedule, Fallon’s show is now on the same level as those of his competitors, who also produce four episodes each week. When Fallon started hosting the show a decade ago, he insisted on five tapings weekly, believing it would pay off. Initially, it did. However, the number of advertisers willing to pay high prices for commercials has decreased, and Fallon has acknowledged this change. Still, Fallon has a talent for attracting big-name guests like Adam Sandler and Amy Poehler, and he often utiliz
