The lawsuit claims that "Beast Games," a Prime Video show with a $100 million budget, failed to provide proper wages, prevent harassment, or ensure the safety and well-being of its contestants. The show, which features over 1,000 participants competing for a $5 million prize, allegedly subjected participants to dangerous conditions, emotional distress, and neglect. Some contestants reportedly ended up hospitalized, while others experienced significant physical and mental health issues.
The plaintiffs accuse Amazon, MrBeast's production company, and the independent firm Off One’s Base LLC of multiple violations, including not paying minimum wages, failing to offer necessary breaks, and exposing contestants to hazardous situations. The lawsuit also highlights an alleged employee handbook from MrBeast’s production team, which purportedly encouraged unprofessional behavior and mistreatment.
The plaintiffs, who remain anonymous, have chosen pseudonyms and redacted parts of the lawsuit to protect their privacy and comply with confidentiality clauses they claim are unenforceable. The lawsuit seeks class-action status, compensation for unpaid wages and expenses, and unspecified punitive damages.
Robert Pafundi, lead counsel for the plaintiffs, argues that the extreme conditions and neglect described amount to a significant failure of duty by the defendants. A release date for "Beast Games" has not been announced.
