Josh Gad Shares Hilarious Regrets About Voicing Olaf: 'I’d Pick a Different Voice!'

Josh Gad, known for voicing the beloved snowman Olaf in Disney's Frozen franchise, recently shared some amusing regrets about his iconic role during an appearance at Fan Expo Canada. He admitted that if given the chance, he would choose a different voice for Olaf. “It’s very weird being in a supermarket and having a little child gawk at me,” Gad explained, imitating the curious look of a child.

Despite this, Gad acknowledged that many fans appreciate his unique voice, which he has lent to Olaf since the character’s debut in 2013's Frozen. He reprised the role in the sequel, Frozen II, and will return for Frozen III, set to release in 2027. Gad learned about the sequels while on vacation in Greece, saying, “My phone’s blowing up with excitement about Frozen III and Frozen IV.” He was surprised to hear about the new projects, adding, “Nobody thought to call us up and say, ‘We’re doing two sequels.’”

Gad expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming films, stating, “It’s going to be unbelievable.” His experiences with fans often blend his parenting life with his character, as he recalled a moment when a child questioned if Olaf was upset with his daughter. “The child was so confused,” Gad said, highlighting the interesting dynamics between his role and real life.

With Gad’s distinct voice continuing to resonate with audiences, fans eagerly await more adventures with Olaf in the upcoming Frozen films.
