Janet Jackson Clarifies Comments on Kamala Harris's Race

Janet Jackson’s representatives have clarified that Mo Elmasri has no connection to her, stating that her actual manager is her brother, Randy Jackson. Recently, Janet Jackson retracted comments she made about Vice President Kamala Harris, acknowledging that Harris is indeed Black and attributing her earlier remarks to "misinformation."

Elmasri explained that Jackson had repeated false claims regarding Harris' parentage, specifically that Harris' father was white. He emphasized that Janet deeply respects Harris' achievements as a Black and Indian woman, underscoring her commitment to accurate representation in public discussions.

In a recent interview with The Guardian, Janet had suggested that she heard Harris was not Black, claiming someone told her that Harris' father was white. However, Kamala Harris identifies as Black because her father, Donald Harris, is a prominent Jamaican-American economist, while her mother is Indian.

The controversy surrounding Harris' racial identity intensified when Donald Trump claimed that she "turned Black" for political advantage, igniting a broader national conversation on race. Other celebrities, including Lil Pump, have echoed similar statements since Trump made his comments.

Janet's team has been contacted for further clarification but has not yet responded.
