Ina Garten Shares Fun Beer Pong Moment with Taylor Swift

Ina Garten recently shared a fun story about playing beer pong with pop superstar Taylor Swift at one of her backstage after-parties. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, where she is the cover star for October, the beloved chef known as the Barefoot Contessa described this memorable night.

Garten expressed her admiration for Swift, saying, "I'm crazy about Taylor Swift." After a concert, Swift invited Garten and her friends to a party for the crew. Her friend Kate suggested they play beer pong, which led to an amusing experience.

As they headed to the game, soccer legend Abby Wambach approached Garten and offered her advice. Wambach had just led the U.S. women's national soccer team to victory in the 2015 World Cup, and she had previously joined Swift on stage during the concert in New Jersey. Garten admitted she was not skilled at beer pong, and this was her first and only game. Wambach humorously told her, "Get the f—ing ball in the f—ing cup!" to which Garten laughed and replied, "That’s your advice?"

In April, Garten revealed that she, along with many Swift fans, faced challenges in getting tickets for Swift’s highly anticipated Eras Tour. Unfortunately, she fell ill just before the concert, preventing her from wearing the glittery dress she had planned.

Garten has long admired Swift, and their mutual respect is evident. Swift has praised Garten, calling her a "magnificent woman" in past interviews. Garten was also featured on the cover of Food Network Magazine in November 2022, celebrating the 20th anniversary of her show, with Swift and other celebrities sharing their fond memories of the chef.
