On Friday, lawyers for both Cher and her son appeared via Zoom to announce that they had reached an agreement.
Rolling Stone reports that Cher’s lawyer, Gabrielle Vidal, informed the judge that the parties had met with mediators and resolved the issue privately. Allman’s lawyer, Steven K. Brumer, confirmed that the deal was definitely agreed upon.
Cher dropped her case without prejudice, which means she can request a conservatorship again in the future if needed.
Cher filed for conservatorship right after Christmas last year, saying her son couldn’t manage his finances because of serious mental health and substance abuse problems.
In his response filed in January, Elijah listed reasons why he didn’t need a conservatorship. He said he is now sober, handling his bills, and managing payments from his late father Gregg Allman’s estate.
Cher’s request for conservatorship was denied in late January, and a judge suggested they quickly try mediation. It looks like they followed that advice, and the conservatorship claim is now officially resolved.
