Big Freedia and New Orleans React to Lil Wayne's Super Bowl Snub

Big Freedia recently expressed disappointment over Lil Wayne being snubbed for the Super Bowl halftime show in his hometown of New Orleans. Speaking on 'The TMZ Podcast,' Freedia shared that the city is heartbroken for Wayne, especially since he had been hoping for the spotlight months before. However, Kendrick Lamar was chosen for the prestigious performance instead.

During the interview with Charlie Neff and Wyld Young, Big Freedia remained optimistic, suggesting that Kendrick could still bring Wayne on stage as a special guest, which would thrill fans and make everything right for New Orleans. Cameos from artists from Cash Money and No Limit Records were also hinted as a possibility—perhaps with some encouragement from Jay-Z, who’s in charge of selecting the performers.

There has been some pushback, however. Rapper Dee-1 voiced his opposition to the idea of Wayne performing at halftime, and Kendrick Lamar even acknowledged his stance. Meanwhile, Jesse Collins, the producer of the Super Bowl halftime show, confirmed that Jay-Z is the one making the final decisions—not some secretive committee as rumors suggested.

Fans of Big Freedia can look forward to more entertainment when the second season of "Big Freedia Means Business" premieres on October 2 on Fuse and Fuse+.
